New Acura ILX will Likely Replace the TSX, gets 2.0L, 2.4L and Hybrid Powerplants
At a recent media briefing in Las Vegas, Acura told reporters that with the exception of the next generation of the NSX, which will be shown in concept form at the Detroit auto show, the company will focus on offering "mid-level premium vehicles that favor fuel economy over performance".
The company's plans include the introduction of a new RL, a mid-life facelift for the RDX crossover and the brand-new ILX compact sedan that is scheduled to reach dealerships next spring.
On its article about the 2013 RL, C&D reported that Honda wants to reduce its sedan lineup to three models, which means that one of the TL or TSX may eventually receive the axe.
A report from Autonews confirms the news adding that the Honda Civic-based ILX will effectively replace the TSX, which is derived from the European market Honda Accord.
Talking to reporters at the Las Vegas event, Vicki Poponi, American Honda assistant vice president for product planning, said the brand's TSX, TL and RL sedan were cannibalizing sales because they were too close in exterior dimensions and interior space. "Our sedans haven't been doing the job for the brand," she said.
Poponi added while sharing major components, the ILX will bear no resemblance to the ninth-generation Civic or the Canadian-market Acura CSX.
"All the suspension settings will be tuned to be Acura," she said. "Consider it as different as the TL is from the Accord or the MDX is from the Pilot."
We also learn that the ILX will be offered with a choice of three powerplants including a 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder unit matched to an automatic transmission, a 2.4-liter engine with a six-speed manual transmission or a 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain.
The report goes on to say that a facelifted version of the TL sedan and a new MDX crossover are scheduled to be introduced in 2013.

Thank you Lud for sharing this great review! Keep up the good work Peter!
- I am happy to report that my recent experience at Paragon Acura was a very good one. The sales person I dealt with, Peter, was very helpful and followed up on several ocassions to make sure I was up to date on all transactions. I cannot comment on any other sales person but can certainly recommend Peter. -Lud
Thank you to the author of this wonderful review for sharing their feedback with us.
- First I would like to thank what I call my team who are Mevin Salcedo,Wendy Deshais and Diana Pera. I really wish whenever I would buy a car they were the people I deal with. After I bought my car I have been smiling non stop because of the deal I got. I have to say that when I went with my father to buy the car I didn't know what to expect since I thought all dealers were crooks but until Melvin Salcedo changed that thought. I thought it was impossible for me to drive a 2012 Acura TL tech pk but Melvin made it happen. I really cannot thank him enough for making my dream come true:Melvin God bless your heart! Melvin is a person that cares for the people. I sincerely believe that everyone should give Melvin a chance to help them because he will try his best (beyond his best)to get you a GREAT deal. About Wendy and Diana I have to thank them for their time in showing me how to use the features in my car: you guys made it easy for me 2 understand everything about my car. They even gave me information where I can reach them whenever I had a question. I was very grateful for you three because you guys made me feel like family. God bless all of you! So, until next time my team :) take care all! -Takeova

More Details on Acura’s Future Models
Here is a quick summary of key points I’ve gathered from the articles:
2013 Acura ILX
• The new entry-level small sedan shares the Civic platform but will have unique styling and features. It is NOT just a rebadged Civic like the Canadian CSX.
• The ILX will be offered as a gas-electric hybrid or with a naturally aspirated 2.0L or 2.4L engine.
• Set to go on sale late spring or early summer 2012 at a starting price “well under $30,000.”
2013 RDX
• The next generation RDX will have a more conservative grille and new styling similar to the MDX.
• The four-cylinder turbo will be replaced by a V6 engine that will deliver more hp and better fuel efficiency
• A new lighter all-wheel-drive system will replace the previous SH-AWD.
• Expected to go on sale spring 2012.
Next Generation NSX
• The NSX concept shares styling of the Avengers Roadster but will have a hard-top and more developed exterior details.
• Like the first NSX it will be a mid-engined v6, but will most likely use the new hybrid SH-AWD system.
• A prototype will be revealed in Detroit to show only the exterior styling with no interior.
• Expected go on sale within three years and won’t go for “less than $100,000,”
New Flagship Sedan(RL Replacement)
• Acura’s new yet-to-be-named flagship sedan will get larger and aim to offer “7-Series cabin space, with the agility of a 5-Series,”
• It will be the first Acura model to utilize Honda’s new V6 with electric SH-AWD and the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
• Set to be unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show in April and should go into production by the end of 2012.
Also mentioned was Acura’s plan for a more distinct 3 model lineup for its sedans. The new entry-level ILX will fit in as the smallest model, and the upcoming RL successor will fill the top spot. It’s rumored that either the TSX or TL might be discontinued, with the remaining survivor left to adjust and fit into the middle-ground slot.

Paragon Acura - Two (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater
- Hello, Brian this is my second car Paragon Acura. I trade mine 2006 TL with all new 2012 TL tech Pkg. Awesome deal, really awesome deal and great hospitality provided by employees all of them. Mainly Joe and Jean both tried hard and stayed late for both of us. They tried to get approval from bank due to low financial support. At last me and my fiancé both lost hope as same we had before we bought our 2006 TL 7 months ago. But I had faith in Joe. He gave us a deal with tech package . I was thinking to buy this one in January but it's now our new christmas gift. You have great employees in Paragon, I would recommend everyone who reads online reviews, to go to them and you can drive a car of your dreams. That's what Acura is all about value for money. And these guys prove it. I wish them good luck and Paragon a very Merry Christmas. -Hwaghela

Acura Earns Three IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Ratings
Acura today announced that three of its best selling models received the highest possible safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) under its more-stringent testing guidelines implemented last year.
The Acura TSX sedan and wagon, TL and MDX earned the highest-possible score of GOOD in all four ratings, including the more rigorous roof-strength test. According to the IIHS, vehicles rated good for rollover protection have roofs more than twice as strong as the current federal standard requires. The IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants in front, side, rollover, and rear crashes based on ratings in the Institute's evaluations.
All 2012 Acura models utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE™ is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE™ design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.
Standard safety equipment on all Acura models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), dual-stage/multiple-threshold front airbags, front-side airbags with passenger side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions, front seats with integrated active head restraints, front seatbelts with automatic tensioning system and load limiters, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

New Acura ILX Compact Sedan to be Built at Honda's Plant in Indiana, will Start Well Under $30,000
"Building this all-new Acura vehicle as the exclusive global source is a big responsibility for our associates," said HMIN President Jun Nishimoto. "I am very proud of what our Indiana team has accomplished in such a short time, and we have great confidence in our ability to produce a world-class luxury vehicle that exceeds the expectations of Acura customers."
The ILX will join the TL sedan, ZDX crossover, and the MDX and RDX sport-utility vehicles as the fifth Acura model assembled exclusively in North America. It is also the company's first-ever hybrid model, as well as the first Acura to be produced in Indiana.
Bloomberg News also reported today that during a Honda briefing in Las Vegas earlier this month, the company said that the ILX is aimed at “Generation-Y” drivers who are turning 30 and that it will start “well under $30,000” when it goes on sale in the spring of 2012.
Currently, Acura's most economical entry in the U.S. market is the TSX sedan that is based on the European Honda Accord and which starts from $29,810.

Thank you to the author of this review for sharing their feedback with us! Way to go Mike, keep up the great work!
- I have owned an Acura MDX for 6 months. I have had quite a few issues with this automobile in the short time I've had it. I have taken it to three dealerships and have not had the best experience. One person that really came through for me was Mike at Acura Paragon. While going through a tough time there he came out of the woodwork and really tried to help me out with parts sand labor. If it wasn't for him I would be leaving a much different review but Mike in service is to be commended for his follow through and transparency in a difficult ordeal with a lemon of a car. Thanks Mike, thanks for helping me get through a stressful situation and being such a cool person about it. I am grateful for the help I had from Mike at Paragon Acura. -jmldesigns

Honda President Takanobu Ito Talks Acura
It has certainly been an interesting and exciting past few days for Honda and Acura fans as we got a glimpse of what the future has in store.
Earlier this week at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda previewed their outline for next generation engine models and technology through a plan called “Earth Dreams Technology”. The phrase is used to describe Honda’s pursuit to advance and utilize environment friendly technology while still satisfying the passion of driving. Some key features include the implementation of direct injection, CVT, and an electric SH-AWD hybrid system.
Making a big presence at the show was Honda CEO and President Takanobu Ito who made time to answer questions and interact with the North American media. Motor Trend’s Frank Markus put together a solid post about the session with Ito, revealing a bit more about what’s coming up for Acura:
“Ito-san is not satisfied with the current performance of the brand in the U.S., though sales are strong in China and the Middle-East. He intends to make new products more unique and sporting. Look for the hybrid-electric Super-Handling AWD to figure in this renaissance, along with the supercar.
A new RDX and small sedan are on the immediate horizon next spring. Acura’s mission is to provide smart luxury that meets social needs, not just personal needs. The small sedan will share some platform architecture with the Civic but feature unique powertrains. The forthcoming supercar is a core element of Honda/Acura’s history and DNA, and will be sold as an Acura in North America. We will also hear news about the RL flagship sedan quite soon too.” – Frank Markus, Motor Trend
We all knew the next generation RDX was coming as well as a “sub-TSX” model which looks to be a hybrid. However rumors of the Honda/Acura Supercar seems to have grown to the point where we should just consider it confirmed.
On the design front, Jeff from TOV mentioned the Honda AC-X Concept(pictured above) may influence Acura’s future styling and corporate theme. I think it would be a welcomed direction as it looks to me like a futuristic evolution or expansion of the “shield” grille.
2012 looks to be a busy year for Acura, hopefully we will get to learn a little more about the upcoming supercar in the next few weeks.

- I went with my fiancé to buy our first car. Acura TL 2006. I saw their online inventory , I chose the car , but unfortunately when we visited them our finances were low with not so good credit report . But Joe stepped in and everything went smooth. He gave us another option of Acura TL which was with other dealer, but he managed to get for us, also the finance manager and sasha helped us to get our finance paper ready. I own this car for now 7 months, it still works as we drew on the test ride. Thanks Joe. We will come to you back in January for our another Acura TL SH-AWD from you guys. -Hwaghela
